Over the years I've come across thousands of "Natural Tooth Whitening" tricks (most duplicates)...do they work? Well, that's what I'm here for...wait, no one cares about my opinion? Oh okay, I guess I'll just stop writing the. *In SpongeBob time lapse reader voice, "A few moments later"* Well, that didn't go so well. Looks like I'm incapable of staying quiet! Anywho, moving on. Before I was so rudely interrupted by myself, (I really need to stop talking to myself.) I was giving you my "professional" opinion on natural teeth whitening. ( and by professional I mean I've like tried a lot of these)
Before I write my long,(Probably boring.) detailed, explanation about natural teeth whitening and then finally tell you the answer, I'll just say it now so all you humans with a life who have places to go and people to see can get stuff done. No. Well, at least not in my experiences. Now, for all you who bored people who want hear all about it, read on.
All over the internet, (Mostly Pinterest, I mean who am I kidding.) you see titles claiming their recipe can get your teeth white and bright naturally. LIES ALL LIES! Once again, just the ones I've tried. There are thousands of articles and videos you could read and watch but really only a few recipes or procedures. Today for your reading pleasure I shalt list all of the most common/popular remedies and what I thought of them.
- Baking Soda: This is by far the most popular method of supposedly whitening your teeth. After seeing this "hack" everywhere and with so many glowing reviews I tried it out. For a few months I brushed my teeth with baking soda and then regular toothpaste, you wanna know how many shades lighter my teeth got? A big, fat 0. I saw no difference. At least for my teeth this was a failure. Note that the grainy texture of the baking soda does clean teeth very well.
- Baking soda mixed with Hydrogen Peroxide or lemon/lime juice: Except for the lime I've tried all these combos but to no avail. I've used this method off and on for over two years and I didn't notice any difference except my gums would be extremely dry afterwards.
- Hydrogen Peroxide: After using "Hp" for quite sometime now I feel as though there might have been the slightest bit of change in the whiteness of my teeth. Since I drink coffee I've been using it to keep any coffee stains at bay, this all could be wishful thinking but my teeth haven't appeared to have gotten any more yellow so out of this list I'd say this was the closest to actually doing anything.
- Activated Charcoal: I've only tried this maybe five times and each time it seems like it might have made the tiniest and I mean tiniest change to my teeth. And I wouldn't really call it whitening more like brightening.
- Turmeric: This is the only one that I haven't tried. But it seems similar to the activated charcoal one, let me know if you've tried it!
These are the five main tooth whitening tricks I've seen floating around and as you read none seemed to do much for me. But, one thing to take note of is that even when people show a before and after the after might have whiter teeth but not by much. One shade at the most. The bottom line is that if you want serious whitening power you have to use something professional or filled with fluoride and bleaching agents: AKA. chemicals. The sad thing is some of the time even those don't work. The true fix is just being confident and not caring what society thinks beauty is. I've never had anyone refuse to be friends with me or been held back from anything just because I don't have the super white teeth. If you have the money and time to get your teeth whitened, go for it! But if not, don't sweat it!
Sorry this post was so short and probably not very funny. But I have to get up early and I'd like to get more than three hours of sleep. (You would not believe how long it takes me to write even the shortest of posts!) I heart everyone reading this! P.s Someone commented a easy caramel sauce recipe on my caramel disaster post and I tried it out today, it was AMAZING! So thank to whoever suggested it! LOL (Lots Of Love)
